Leadership
We should know what is leadership and accumulate
the qualities of leadership in our personal life. Because it is not only essential
on professional domain but also highly necessary in family life too. It makes an
individual’s personality more extraordinary and sociability. It is a more powerful, effective and
fundamental tool in all stratum.
What is Leadership?
Leadership is an Art or process of influencing
peoples to follow his/her path willingly to achieve a specific goal/Common goal. People commonly
misunderstand the terms between leader and leadership and Between leader and
manager but there are three different terms.
Definition:
- According to George Terry, “Leadership is an activity of influencing people to strive willingly for group objective.”
- According to Harold Koontz and Heinz Weihrich, “Leadership is an art or process influencing people so that they will strive willingly and enthusiastically towards achievement of group goal.”
Features of Leadership:
- It is the ability an individual to influence
others
- It tries to bring change the behaviours of
others
- It shows interpersonal relation between leader
and followers
- It meant to achieve common goal
- It is a continuous process
Why it is
necessary?
Leadership is a skills
or arts which is highly necessary or importance of achievement of group's goals. The process
will ensure the following activities in the group.- Monitor and improve upon the group’s
performance.
- Coordinate all group activities.
- Nurture the group’s inter-personal
relationship.
- Ensure that all members in the group
activities.
- Take initiative in establishing linkages with
external agencies.
- Provide strategic direction to the group.
- Express and interpret the group’s vision.
- Achieve the groups goals.
